fashionista- jimmy james

Not much important to say about this im affraid, apart from it makes me laugh (yes cringeee). My lovely friend posted it to me on facebook a few years ago saying it reminded her of me, I must be doing something right then! It really is quite catchy, so go listen!

Bring back the dungarees?

Im not too sure whether its A.) my love for this video and how happy it makes me, or B.) the fact dungarees are so out that they could quite possibly be in? I like it with the none tops underneath, quite minimal and hippyish with days spent having a picnic on a field somewhere. Oh dear, now Little House on The Prarie comes into mind. Maybe Im wrong, should dungarees make a near to soon reappearance on the catwalks?

Scrub away

See the resemblance? AHEM, CHERYL COLE, we thank you Poly Styrene for this (and also the great song!)

Also, why does this album cover remind me of Alphabeat? Perhaps just the funky bright colours or even their style, although in either case I love it. It took me quite a while to figure out they were actually in test tubes... duh Melody.

Yes!

I still still stillllllllll want my hair to grow, why wont it hurry up :( I want it exactly this long, but with a fringe. I should of found a picure of what I actually want but I do love this one, especially the brightness of her hair. I think it also suits how thin the model is too. If only I still had my pink hair, it saddens me seeing people with wacky hair nowadays, I feel too "normal." But, why am I complaining seen as though it was my choice to remove it? If only I was a hairdresser so I could afford to keep it looking good. Waahwaahwaah. Rant over.

Reminiscing

Yes, I can say that this is one of my all time favourite bags. Large and black = yes. So many studs= double yes, the more the bloody merrier! It may be a tad over my price range (£1541 to be precise) but I do love it and after all it is Burberry Prorsum, what else would we expect? Yeah it's sold out (yonks ago) but i can still dream can't I? I must admit although I do have a love for Cameron Diaz, especially in 'The Holiday' (not to mention whom shes working with in it mmm,) but I am still very jelous of her owning this bag, im sure she has a vast collection of beautiful beautiful beautiful bags making this one not look so special. If this were my bag, it would be my shrine.

Carrying on the same train of thought...

I fancy writing about more about designing etc nom nom nom. Now I shall write about graphic designing... and in particular Kate Moross. I stumbled upon her a couple of years ago, god knows how. I love her work. This is a photograph I remember from when I first saw her, I think its a v.m. window display for Topshop. Quirky things like this, I find toooo good to be true. Her works pretty stricking and catches your eye, just the way it should be! I best create wonderful displays like this, or what is the point in my life?

...........and she has had pink hair like me, SNAP, we must have so much in common.

Heaven

Heaven heaven heaven. Preston Bailey has recently released his fifth book; Celebrations. Bailey is floral couturier and has had a model background as well as opening his own clothing boutique ... nice. It was during the 1980's when his interior designer friend (Vicente Wolf) encouraged him to create floral arrangements for Wolf's clients. Yes they may be abit pricy, but my god they are beautiful and that is what I picture when I picture V.M. , simply the best. I cannot honestly say which I prefere out of the three photographs above?

"The Decapitator"

More horror... New York anonymous graffitti artist "The Decapitator" edits the latest ads in not only New York but also London and Paris. I love it! An unusual twist to art that people will either dispise or enjoy, oh the anarchy. I hope more is to arrive soon, I would like a copy of them for myself to place somewhere nice. Such a good name for the artist as well, could these pieces trigger off some bloody fashion on the catwalks very soon?

Thank you Harpers Bazaar!

Tim Burton and the spooky side of fashion have merged together to create these wonderful photographes being adapted from Burton's New York Museum of Modern Art showcase. I love the goth look... studs, skeletons and all, so this is perfect. I want the giant skeleton for my bedroom! The vivid contrast from blacks to reds almost shows the romantic side of the horror series? Oh, and the roses floating about, how femimine!

Manifesto

Main inspiration= Vivienne Westwood. Recently I saw an interview on youtube of her and she quickly explained the badges she was currently wearing... her manifesto (active resistance to propaganda.) I started to look into it and researched more and more and want to follow in her footsteps, but I cannot find anything which I can purchase to support her? Daymn.

"...in the pursuit of art the art lover becomes resistant to propaganda."

Stella beats economic crisis

It has been revealed that last years profits rose by 78 percent for Stella McCartney and her clothing company. The chief consecutive officer and companies president both stated that this was due to "two strong ready to wear collections" and more stand-alone shops upcomming to us all. At least someone is overcomming the recession and luckily someone whom I love for all her designs and collections! Also on the 2nd November, Stella will launch a range for GapKids with a yummy seventy designs within it. Keep an eye out for her exact replica (but mini version) of one of her jumper dresses from her autumn/winter 2009 ready-to-wear runway collection, if only I was older and had a few odd seventy children to dress...

15 x 15 project

Marc Jacobs = love. Nars working with Marc Jacobs = double the looove. Jacob's is reinacting a Richard Avedon photograph of the sixtiess which is part of Nar's 15x15 project. This consists of different celebrity portraits that show a variety of amazing emotion and classic photographs whilst all using the Nars products. This is one book I need to get if I ever get the money. I couldn't remember much of Avedons work so I decided to google him, I forgot how good he would be for inspiration on my photography project! Above are a few of the photographs of Avedons that I love...

Only 'fat mummies' object to size-0 models

Okay okay another post on Karl Lagerfeld but Im really not too sure I agree with him on this one?-no matter how much I love him.

hmmmm, I'm not too sure what to put on this one, just hmmmmm.

Chanel Haute Couture

Origami and Chanel are two subjects that have always fascinated me (I have actually mastered the art of making paper swans which may not seem alot to all the pro's out there but I'm proud of it), but this just tops the icing on the cake. In January 2009 (yes i do know this is old news but shut up and read) Karl Lagerfeld's monochrome designs took fourty+ people working night and day to create 6000 paper flowers for the shows head pieces. Not a inkling of jewellery was allowed but doesn't this prove that you can make something so incredibly beautiful out of nothing? To me, it doesn't get much better than this. I can honestly say to anyone and everyone that's reading this post... this is what inspires me to work within the fashion industry. We may be in a recession but Largerfeld hits the economic crisis back with the statements; “The whole crisis is like a big spring housecleaning -- both moral and physical,” also adding; “bling is over. Red carpet covered with rhinestones is out. I call it ‘the new modesty’.” “We are entering a phase of reality fashion.” said Lagerfeld. “This is right. This is exactly what Chanel did; she wore the clothes she designed. We talk about the financial crisis, but it is also healthy. People who have been making 20% increase, year after year, and then are not making 20% any more, they are not poor. So don’t cry for them. We have got into bad habits and it is not a bad thing to have a new starting point.” Lagerfeld I salute you!

Chloe S/S 2010

Casual tailoring that looks cool enough to be worn at any time of day. Very refreshed look which I adore with the loose hair and sandals. Love love love the denim jeans, that is all that needs to be said!

Luella S/S 2010

How cute? The 1960's inspired c0llection reminds me of childhood fun yet with a girly sophisticated twist yeah? I don't know why but every time I look at them, minnie mouse comes to mind... maybe its the hair bows or simply just the black/white against the red. Usually I wouldn't think twice about looking at polka dot clothing but in monochrome with the miniture bow belts, I think Bartley has got it all so bloody perfect. I personally think pairing any of the collection with Vivienne Westwood's Lady Dragon shoes would look a yummmmmmmmmy treat. It may not be Bartleys usual look for clothing but it can't get much sweeter than this.
